Mexican Leader General Marino Arista (had 4,000 troops)

Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo -Signed on February 2, 1848 -The United States paid Mexico $15,000,000 "in consideration of the extension acquired by the boundaries of the United States" -pay American citizens debts owed to them by the Mexican government -Mexico gave up present day New Mexico and California as well as its recognition of United States control of present day Texas. -No more fighting between U.S. and Mexico
