What we want to see & understand…. Browse • Ability to locate Browse from LDT landing page. • Users immediate instinctive behavior when searching. (i.e. keyword or browse) • Ability to clearly understand what the six Browse categories mean from the Find Learning Page. • Ability to clearly understand what the Professional Skills Categories mean • Ability to intuitively and quickly understand how browse navigation works – both down and up browse pathways. Learning Details • Users immediate and unsolicited reaction to the Learning Details page. • Ability to easily understand how to navigate through the page. • Ability to easily understand how to complete applicable transactional task (e.g. Register & Drop) • Understand what are the most and least important items on the Learning Details page that will help them easily and quickly determine if they want to take the course.
Tasks Scenario #1: • Default page: LDT Find Learning page. User starts at this page. Let’s say that you’ve had your mid-year review with your manager and she indicated that as part of your development goals, you should improve your communication skills. Please take the next step on this page to find all courses for improving your communication skills. What to observe: • What does the user instinctively do? Keyword or Browse? And Why? (e.g. Did you not see it? Are you just used to it? Do you know what browse means?) • Did the user determine that Communication Skills is under Professional Skills? Questions: • What do the main areas of this page telling you? • If straight to Keyword - Did you not see Browse? Are you just used to it? Do you know what browse means?) • Are the six Browse Category titles and definitions clear to you? • If you didn’t know the name of the specific course, would browsing by category be like an intuitive next step?

Tasks Scenario #2 • Default Page: LDT Find Learning Page. Let’s say that you have a highly visible project coming up. You haven’t used PowerPoint in a while and need to refine your PPT skills. Find all the PowerPoint courses. What to observe: • Is it intuitive for the user to click through the categories to get to the PowerPoint option? • Do they understand/see that offerings results are being slimmed down as they navigate “deeper”? Questions: • How intuitive is the Browse by Categories module in helping the user find PowerPoint courses? • Do you understand the Category labels? Do you understand what the numbers mean? • From the Browse by Categories page. What would you do if you couldn’t find what you were looking for? • You see the course results in the table at the bottom of the page. Would it be helpful if a course was marked as “New”?

Tasks Scenario #3 • Now that you’ve accessed the learning categories for PowerPoint training how would you learn more about the course? What to observe: • Does the user know to click on the course title in the learning results?

Tasks Scenario #4 • After selecting the last category for PowerPoint application, you decide that as a Manager, it would be better to find courses that can improve your people management skills. This time, find all manager courses. What to observe: • How intuitive is the system’s capability to start over with another category? • Does the user look for a ‘reset’ button or do they click on the ‘Management & Leadership’ link in the leftmost category? Questions: • How intuitive was it to take the first step to search for another category on this screen? • How intuitive were the navigation items in helping you with this task? • What did you think about the labeling of the Management & Leadership categories? • How would you like the learning results to be displayed? • Relevance? Ratings? Most Popular? All other results would be displayed only if the user wants to see all.

Tasks Scenario #5 • Now, I’d like to show you another screen for the LDT Browse system. In this screen, the Keyword Search option is provided as a link on the right-hand side of the screen. Take a minute to review the screen before I get your input on the navigation, messaging and how well it supports your ability to accomplish your learner tasks Questions: • How intuitive is it to have the ‘Keyword Search’ or ‘Browse by Categories’ features be displayed as links and not as tabbed navigation items? • Would having ‘Keyword Search’ (or ‘Browse by Categories’) be provided as a link make it easier to find and access that feature?
