Sustainable Tourism in Samoa aims to provide unique experiences for guests while improving national development outcomes. The Samoa Tourism Authority Sector Steering Committee ensures efficient sector management, focusing on measurable strategies for favorable outputs and national development. STIA, an STA Board Initiative, addresses current issues, promotes tourism standards, and advises on sustainable objectives. Challenges include isolation, capacity building, climate change, coastal erosion, market knowledge, government dependency, limited resources, energy costs. Progress requires collective efforts.

Sustainable Tourism is a Nation’s Choice in ensuring the Sustainability of the Pillars which Tourism is founded to provide destination unique points of difference and quality experiences for Visiting Guests; and the improvement of national lifestyles to achieve MDG levels targeted by the United Nations.
Samoa Tourism Authority Sector Steering Committee comprises of Public, Private, and Development Partners Ensures the Efficient and Innovative Management of the Sector via STA and comprise of a full Private Sector Member Board
The STA Divisions work closely with the Working Groups to drive the achievement of Measurable Sector Development Strategies that targets favourable Sustainable Tourism outputs and National development outcomes.
STIA is a STA Board Initiative to: • gauge relevant current issues that requires responses to mitigate negative impacts on Tourism; • and to establish and encourage the usage of tourism standards amongst STIA members; • to establish a more well informed Sector; and • to advise on Sustainable Tourism Objectives and Frameworks
