  5. Let’s read Energy from the Sun on Page 305 Let’s Connect… The Sun provides most of Earth’s energy. This energy drives winds and ocean currents and allows plants to grow and produce food, providing nutrition for many animals. Energy from the Sun

  6. Heat - Page 305 Heat Heat is energy that flows from an object with a higher temperature to an object with a lower temperature. Heat is transferred through the atmosphere in 3 ways. Teaching

  9. Summarize how the Sun warms your skin? Be specific with your responses. Do not put your name on your paper! Write down the answer to the question on your piece of paper. Wad it up into a snowball and toss your snowball into the basket. Each of you will grab a snowball from the basket and look at the answer. If the answer is correct, you may have a seat.   12. Convection - Page 306 Convection • Convection is the transfer of heat by the flow of material. • Transfer of thermal energy through liquid or gas. • Convection circulates heat throughout the atmosphere. Teaching

  13. Convection - Page 307 When air is warmed, the molecules move apart and the air becomes less dense. (molecules move faster) In cold air, molecules move closer together. The air becomes more dense and air pressure increases. Think of it like an equation: Warmer, less dense air rises + Cooler, denser air sinks = Convection Currents Teaching
