About Rabindranath Tagore: *Born on May 7, 1861, Jorasanko, Calcutta. *Died on August 7, 1941, Jorasanko, Calcutta. *Studied in University of Calcutta & University College London. *Language- Bengali, English *Occupation- Poet, short-story writer, novelist, essayist & painter. *Won Nobel Prize in Literature in the year 1913.

  3. Santiniketan:1901–1932 Tagore despised rote classroom schooling . In 1901 Tagore moved to Santiniketanand found an ashram with a marble-floored prayer hall—The Mandir—an experimental school, groves of trees, gardens, a library. Tagore, visiting Santa Barbara in 1917, conceived a new type of university: he sought to "make Santiniketan the connecting thread between India and the world and a world centre for the study of humanity somewhere beyond the limits of nation and geography. He named the school Visva-Bharati.

  7. ACCOLADES Rabindranath Tagore won Nobel Prize in Literature in 1913 and Rabindranath was the first Indian to won Nobel Prize. In 1930 the Paintings of Rabindranath Tagore was exhibited in Paris and London. RabindranathTagore was the co-founder of Dartington Hall School in Japan. Indian Postage Department showed their tribute to RabindranathThakur on 7th May 1961 when a Stamp released in the name of Rabindranath Tagore
