This guide outlines essential procedures for the safe start-up and shutdown of an oxygen-acetylene torch. It emphasizes the importance of pre-start inspections including mental readiness, ventilation checks, and visual inspections of equipment. Detailed instructions cover the proper preparation of materials, selection of torch tips, gas regulator settings, and safe lighting techniques to achieve a neutral flame. The shutdown process includes safely turning off the torch, bleeding hoses, and ensuring all equipment is returned to its proper place while maintaining a clean workspace.
