  2. History • Most of the history of knots has been erased. • Cat gut was used to make knots a long time ago. • Some archeologists found some necklaces that date back far in time, with a knot tied at the end. • Over time they made knots made out of rope.

  3. Current Importants • We use most of the knots they made now-a-days. • It’s a part of a vast branch of math. • Scientists study knots to help understand how to unravel a loop in DNA.

  4. What are they? • Definition: an interlacing, twining, looping, etc., of a cord, rope, or the like, drawn tight into a knob or lump.
