  3. Glut 40 mM citrate, 100 nM Ca2+, 0.4 mM Mg2+ EGTA 40 mM citrate causes a continuous, linear increase in [Ca2+]SR, to levels unattainable in anions that do not pass the SR membrane. No Ca2+ surge is apparent upon substitution of citrate for 50 mM EGTA (0 Ca). Note that this preparation was, following the above expt, exposed to glut, SO42- and then EGTA. The procedure saw a drop in [Ca2+]SR in SO42- and a Ca2+ surge upon substitution of SO42- for EGTA. 051905b
