  1. PHYSIBEL What’s new inBISCO version

  2. What BISCO users already knew … BISCO is a thermal analysis program for two-dimensional steady state heat transfer. BISCO is very useful for the thermal analysis of windows and doors (EN ISO 10077-2), thermal bridges (EN ISO 10211), building components and elements (EN ISO 6946), hollow brick masonry and ground heat losses (ISO13370). BISCO was first developed by Physibel in 1995 and due to its popularity several new versions with an improved user friendliness and with increasing simulation power were developed since that time. It became a reference program in consultancy, industry and research in the thermal simulation world.Today we are proud to present you BISCO version 9w. Related Physibel programs. The program module RADCON allows a more detailed conduction - radiation - convection analysis. The program BISTRA allows a transient 2D thermal analysis (fire analysis, analysis of problems related to solar radiation). The programs TRISCO and VOLTRA allow three-dimensional steady state and transient thermal simulations.

  3. What’s new in BISCO version 9w ? Summary of new performances - Improved input of DXF files.-Read/write compressed BMP files.-New bitmap editing functions (e.g. import bitmap).-Faster response times when using drawing tools.-Optimise air cavities by detecting grooves and small interconnections.-Equivalent thermal conductivities based on editable surface emissivities aroundcavities.-Equivalent thermal conductivities based on calculated heat flow direction in cavities.-Second insulation panel possible for window frame calculation.-Automatic initialisation of distances for window frame calculation.-Detect zones of reduced heat transfer.-View and adjust U values at bitmap borders.-Relative humidity for surface condensation.-Automatic report generator.

  4. New BISCO-DXF module to convertDXF drawings into coloured BMP bitmaps New BISCO-DXF features.- Draw bitmap outline inside window with DXF drawing.- Change bitmap size and pixel size through dialog box.- Load layer definitions from file.- Load colour palette from bitmap template file.- Calculate bitmap without automatic save.- Save (compressed) bitmap and layer definitions into files with user defined file names.

  5. New BISCO-DXF module to convertDXF drawings into coloured BMP bitmaps The bitmap conversion is limited to the zoomed area (blue rectangle). The pixel size is editable.

  9. Automatic detection of reduced heat transfer zones (EN ISO 10077-2)

  10. Automatic detection of reduced heat transfer zones (EN ISO 10077-2)

  11. Optimised subdivision of cavities in case of interconnections < 2 mm (EN ISO 10077-2)

  12. Optimised subdivision of cavities in case of interconnections < 2 mm (EN ISO 10077-2)

  13. Symmetry option for bitmap border cavities Up to BISCO version 8w bitmap borders were always considered as symmetry axes. The new option allows considering cavities as closed by the border, which causes slightly lower equivalent thermal conductivities.

  14. Automatic detection of heat flow direction in cavities

  15. Compared to previous BISCO versions, version 9wcan result in slightly lower frame U-values according to the EN ISO 10077-2 standard, because of the last 3 new performances - Optimised subdivision of cavities in case of interconnections< 2 mm - Symmetry option for bitmap border cavities- Automatic detection of heat flow direction in cavities

  16. Editable cavity surface emissivities This feature allows calculating the cavity equivalent thermal conductivity according to the formula in EN ISO 10077-2.The RADCON module allows a physically much more correct approach. Using the colour type TRANSMAT, the conduction through the air or gas at rest and the radiation between the surface elements bordering the cavity are simulated correctly.Using the colour type BC-FREE, the convection between the air and the surface elements and the radiation between them are considered.

  17. Automatically deleting small zones

  18. Automatically deleting small zones

  19. Use of a hard material when deleting (small) zones Up to version BISCO version 8w the pixels to be deleted were replaced by the surrounding pixels BISCO version 9w allows to define hard materials that are not used when replacing pixels to be deleted

  20. Automatic distance initialisation for frame and insulation panel Automatic distance adjustment after resizing bitmap

  21. Automatic use of distances in Uframe definition

  22. New distance definition features extent MIN (line through clicked point up to colour border) MAX (based on dimension of bounding box of colour in bitmap) FREE (coordinates of end points X1, Y1, X2, Y2 are freely modified)

  23. Importing a bitmap into the bitmap to replace insulation panel by glazing

  24. Importing a bitmap into the bitmap to replace insulation panel by glazing

  25. Automatic border U-value calculation

  26. Enforced border U-values to calculate (spacer) linear thermal transmittance

  27. U value calculation for frames with 2 panels

  28. Use of an alternative EN ISO 10077-2 template with more soft colours for colouring cavities BISCO version 9w allows a conversion between the different templates

  29. Generation of graphic and text files for reporting Up to 8 bitmaps can be defined with parameters to show or hide object lines, triangulation mesh, isothermal lines, heat flow lines, distances, legend and fill option (bitmap, materials, temperatures, heat fluxes, heat flows, or no fill).Data and result text files are created automatically: key values (pixel size, global triangulation size, number of nodes, temperature factor, linear thermal transmittance, equivalent thermal transmittance, thermal transmittances of flanking elements, frame, insulation panels) and report text files (data, results, material properties, boundary conditions, equivalent thermal conductivities of cavities, temperature factor table, linear thermal transmittance table, frame thermal transmittance table).

  30. Word report template

  31. Word report template The BISCO load macro allows loading BISCO graphic and text files and putting them at the predefined bookmarks 
