  1. Progress Report Month:Febuary

  2. Sorry about the Spanish music I was just in a Mexican mood when I was making this presentation. Hope you enjoy . You can just mute your sound until this is over.

  3. Collaboration With Mentor • This month my mentor said the thought that I didn’t really need much help for my project. So we really didn’t meet, but she did remind to me to do my rows for the month. I got like about 5 or 6 rows done which is more than last week. My mentor watched me do the rows and said that I was doing a good job and that I should try to do more rows so that I can finish it up because she said its taking to long.

  4. What I Learned/ My notes • Latch hooks began in the 1920s. • The knots used in the latch hook net creates a lush pile. However, knotted pile items spring from an ancient and rich heritage. One of the earliest example of a knot was the Spanish knot, that dates back to 1500 BC in Egypt. • Egyptians used the Spanish knot to make the earliest rugs. It wasn’t until the 14th century AD that Turkish and Persian rug knotters became famous for the Oriental rugs exported from Europe. • By the 16th century Oriental rug knotting became even more prominent with all the phenomenal designs they had, created bye the use of the fine knots. • In Oriental rugs the number of knots per square was usually from 80 to 320. Using 3.3 canvas today you would have fewer knots, like about 10 knots per square inch

  5. Just More Notes • The latch hook used today is a tool with normally a wooden handle. The hook pulls the yarn through the canvas, and because of the latch it creates a knot, which holds the pile in place. • Many people prefer to use canvases that already have the design already painted on just because it is easier than designing your own. • Latch hook rugs are often confused with a punch hook rugs, which are harder to make, can be much well deatled

  6. My Goal For Next Month • My goal for next month is for me to be able too get at least half of the rug that I have done. I also plan on getting the last of my notes that I need for my project. Hopefully soon I will be able to use the notes I have to start writing some paragraphs. I will use these paragraphs for my poster board. I really need to start finishing things up because I know the end of the year will come by soon.
