When do I find out my schedule? • Submit your Availability each week by Sunday Evening at 8 pm-make sure correct date • Use referee page/availability tab on the Sportingls website to submit availability (fill in every line) • Schedule is posted lateWednesday night on the referee page. Ensure looking at correct date! Sportingls.org • Click on the Referee Schedules Link • Password is sportingref ** If you don’t want to work a weekend, don’t submit availability ** If you submitted and didn’t get games, email or text Art! If you turn in availability late, you may still get games or bench time-so sign up.

  5. Who do I confirm my games with? • On Thursday, email referee@sportingls.org or text Art at 816.729.5014 to confirm your games or to let Art know that you can’t make them-crucial that if your availability changes after submitting to inform as soon as possible, easier to adjust before schedule is posted. • If after Thursday you have something come up and can’t make your games, text Art. • Art’s cell phone is (816) 729-5014

  6. What do I do on Saturday? • Arrive at the fields 30 minutes prior to your first game • Check in at the West concession stand. • Review division specific rules of games assigned • Text or call Art if you are running late for your games. • Be prepared with uniform and equipment

  7. How Much do I Make? Payroll schedule is posted on website

  8. Division Specific Rules for Rec • All divisions have rosters. Only 3v3 does not have line up card. These must be compared to the lineup card. • Lineup Card must have: • Date • Time • Home or Visitor • Division • Team # • Color • Coaches Name • Opposing Coach Name • All players listed with a number

Division Specific Rules • Be familiar with the division specific rule before you start the game. • Referee page on www.sportingls.org • Heartland League Rules page on Heartland tab with link on Referee Page • Discuss this with the other refs you are working with so you have it correct (pregame conference). Discuss at halftime • Two criticals to discuss before every game-when are subs allowed and is heading legal 9

  10. After Game Mark the score on the back of each game card and if that team won or lost-except 3v3 games (Emphasis this year).W 5-3, L 3-5 Get both coaches to sign game card. Turn in completed game cards to check-in area at West concession stand after stapling together (important to ensure goes with correct age group) 10

  11. Expectations Know the rules and dress appropriately Try your best. Outrun the kids on the game that you are working. Just because you are bigger and more talented at soccer, doesn’t mean you should walk the entire game and consistently be out of position. Have FUN! Let Art know if you are having any issues with coaches, questions about rules, level is too easy or too difficult for you. 11

  12. 3 v 3 games: • Team is split into 2 fields side by side • Field closest to concession stand in competitive other is noncompetitive • Teams should be checked in using a league roster • Begin and end halves simultaneously-competitive field ref is timekeeper • No game card is kept, but keep score • If 5 goal difference, team behind can add a player as long as they are behind 5 goals-let coach know • At end of games stand together to allow players to shake hands • First Grade games: • Same as above except • Game cards are used to keep score-turn in together • Squads are divided equally at the decision of coaches • NO GOALIES are allowed; you may award a kick from mid field or a goal if violation occurs

  16. Coach Upsets You – Tell “Coach you can’t keep yelling at me” “This is your warning” “My next step is to remove you from the game” 16

  17. Coach Upsets You – Dismiss “Coach I am ejecting you from the game” “Please go to the nearest concession stand” “We will start the game when you leave the field” 17

  18. Parent Upsets You – Ask “Coach please instruct the parent(s) to stop yelling at me”. “Their yelling makes it harder to pay attention to the game” 18

  19. Parent Upsets You – Tell “Parent(s) you must stop” “This is your warning” “My next step is to remove you and your head coach from the game” 19

  20. Parent Upsets You – Dismiss “Parent and Coach I am ejecting you from the game” “Please go to the nearest concession stand-You must be out of sight out of sound!” “We will start the game when you leave the field” 20

  21. Coach / Parent Behavior If it is initially bad enough, go directly to Step 2 and / or Step 3 Don’t hesitate to ask for a field marshall using the radio. We will support you 100% 21
