  1. NATO IETV /Battle LabsPresented to the UNIS-TEM1-3 December 2009 Mr. Edgar Harmsen NC3A – Interoperability (CAT2) Edgar.Harmsen@nc3a.nato.int NATO UNCLASSIFIED

  2. The Interoperability Experimentation, Test and Validation (IETV) NATO UNCLASSIFIED

  3. IETV: Interoperability Experimentation, Testing and Validation Capability I E T V • The IETV (Interoperability Experimentation, Testing and Validation) is a capability in support of • CIS formal validation (as an input to certification), • Interoperability enhancement and • Experimentation for multinational, NATO-led expeditionary operations. • NC3B and ACT have sponsored the development of the IETV capability • High level of synergy with other programs: • ACO has funded some process-supporting tools • Several nations have actively participated as validation/testing counterparts

  4. IETV: Interoperability Experimentation, Testing and Validation Capability How IETV can be used? The IETV is a distributed capability (NGCS, CFBLNet). Aims to reuse existing NATO and National assets. IETV can be used remotely trough CFBLNET or NGCS transmission networks. IETV can deploy to a national site and also use NC3A static facilities. IETV can deploy in an exercise like SFCE, CWID or CE to support Interoperability, Experimentation , Testing and Validation activities.

  5. IETV: Interoperability Experimentation, Testing and Validation Capability What can be tested with IETV?

  6. Overview of 2009 IETV Activities • SFCE 09 • Validation campaign LCC NRF-14 DDIV (HQ/Bgde). • Testing campaign LCC NRF-13 UK ARCC. • Automated tests with IATT for secure data services (SFCE 09 PTA NS and MS ) • Experiment campaign with 1GNC • IEG-Light MIP-DEM Proxy • IEG-Light VoIP Gateway • Experiment JCOP-XML NRDC-SP • Exercise Report. • CWID 09 • Emulation of Deployable CIS (DCIS) deployable Point of Presence (dPoP). • Provision of C2 NATO systems ( NIRIS, JCHAT, ICC and LC2IS). • Generation, Distribution and Visualization of the RAP. • ADatP3, NFFI and TDL IO Assessment • Automated tests, reports and assessment. • Exercise Report. 10. IETV 2010 Proposals. • TN-1174 Evolution • Update / Review / Add Technical Requirement. • Test Case Oriented – Facilitated direct reuse in exercises. • Reference / standard alignment (NCT IOTRS , NISP, NNEC ..) • SFCE 10 • Experimentation support. • Validation campaign NRF 15-17 • using IEG scenario B NAT-S • supporting IEG-C scenario. • CWIX 10 • Support NRF assessment with IO analysis and expertise. • Provision of NATO C2 System using DCIS dPoP emulation. • Using IETV in a distributed way ( Trough CBLNET from the Hague ) in order to support in most cost/effective way to the CWIX community. • Generate, process, distribute and visualize CWIX scenario. • Ad-Hoc National validation/experimentation campaign. • As requested by nations in coordination with NCT NATO UNCLASSIFIED
