Conduct an Interview * An interview is a good way to learn about a topic from someone who knows a lot about it • Before Interviewing • Research the topic and person you are interviewing. • Contact the person to set up a date, time and place. • Prepare a list of thoughtful questions that seek information you want or need.

10. Conduct an Interview During the interview: • Introduce yourself. Explain why you are conducting the interview. • Ask your questions. • Listen actively to the answers, and take notes while maintaing eye contact and good posture. • Thank the person for his or her time. • After interviewing • Review your notes and write a summary of the exchange.

She asked her dad to take them to the fair, but he had farm business to deal with. So, Kim called her aunt. Aunt Pat said she would be glad to take them, but her horse trailer needed repairs, and her mechanic was away. Kim thought very hard about what she could do. Kim asked her dad if his mechanic could fix the trailer. Her dad agreed, and the mechanic got to work. Kim and Aunt Pat drove to the fair and entered Daisy in the contest.

31. Let’s Practice After the camping trip, Pat had piles of filthy laundry to wash. He sorted everything as it came out of the dryer. The biggest challenge was matching all the socks so they were in the correct pairs and were given back to the right person. There were a dozen pairs of socks that were different materials and different colors. There were two pairs of cotton socks, one read and one gray. There were seven pairs of wool socks-six were blue, and one pair was brown. Three pairs were black acrylic. Figuring out the sock situation was confusing.
