This informative article explores the fundamental concepts of sound, describing it as a series of waves that travel through various media such as air, water, and solids. Learn how sound is produced by vibrations and how it travels in mechanical waves. The piece details how sound is measured by frequency and amplitude, explaining these terms in an accessible way. Additionally, discover the speed of sound, which is approximately 343.2 meters per second, and understand how factors like temperature, elasticity, and density affect its travel.

What Is Sound? by:alliyah hallcashmere hood
What Is Sound? • Sound is a series of waves that travels through the media(air, water, and solids). • Sound is produced when an object moves or vibrates. When this happens , the air or molecules around this object moves or vibrates as well.
How Does Sound Travel? • Sound travels in Mecanical Waves, which are vibrations that move and transport energy from one place to another through a meduim.
How Is It Measured? • Sound waves are described with two measurements: frequency and amplitude. • Frequency is the number of waves passing a given point in a given period of time(usually measured in hertz(hz). • Amplitude is a measure of the amount of energy in a sound wave.
Speed Of Sound • Speed is 343.2 meters per second • The speed of sound depends on the temperture , elasticity, and density.
