  2. Late dawn. An early sunset. And it’s pretty cold outside. It’s called the Winter solstice. And the sun hangs low in the sky.

  3. It’s the shortest day of the year in the northern hemisphere. On December twenty-first, or thereabouts!

  5. Snowfall. The changing seasons. Wind is whistling through the trees. Earth tilts on its axis at twenty-three point five degrees.

  10. Hangin’ with my bro’s it’s just as good as it can get. Ice is on my nose, but we’ve no need to break a sweat! Ev’rything on hold, we’re waiting for the fun to start. Never mind the cold, I’ve got my friends to warm my heart!

  21. My mother is dreaming of a brown Christmas. She’s thinking how pleasant that would be. With candles in the windows, and trimming on the tree. But Old Mister Snowman is nowhere to be seen.

  22. Predictions of warm and sunny weather arejust the kind she hopes to hear. Dear Santa come to town with a Christmas of brown. That’s all my mother wants this year.

  23. My mother is dreaming of a brown Christmas. She’s thinking how pleasant that would be. No shoveling the sidewalk before the guests arrive. No salt and snow being tracked in from outside.

  24. No snowsuits. No mittens or galoshes. To clutter up her Christmas cheer. Dear Santa come to town with a Christmas of brown. That’s all my mother wants this year. That’s all my mother wants this year.

  25. A Kitty For A Present

  26. I want a kitty (spoken solo: how sweet.) For a present. (That’s nice.) I want a kitty (yeah) For a present (they’re so cute!) If I can’t have a kitty for a present, (yes?) I will take a chicken. (Chicken? Did you say…chicken?)

  27. I want a chicken (like the barnyard animal?) For a present (for a pet?) I want a chicken (in the yard, right?) For a present (I guess you could…) If I can’t have a chicken for a present (yeah?) I will take a lobster. (Um…that’s a bit unusual)

  28. I want a lobster (do you have a tank?) For a present (they have claws) I want a lobster (not very cuddly) For a present (maybe with lemon and butter…) If I can’t have a lobster for a present (oh, boy…) I will take a rhino. (Whaaaat?! Rhino?!)

  29. I want a rhino (Oh, come on!!) For a present (That’s…that’s…just…) I want a rhino (Daah!) For a present (how big is your litter box?) If I can’t have a rhino for a present (now what?) I will take a submarine. (Of course you will). Oh! I will take a submarine. (Fine. Guess I’ll be returning that goldfish…sheesh).

  34. Winter is cold with a lot of snow; A vacation in the tropics is where I’ll go. Down on the beach where the tide rolls in, I can’t wait to take a swim.

  36. Welcome to our island, mon! Please enjoy our weather. Winter in the tropics doesn’t get any better. We can sing and play where the palm trees are swayin’. Dancing in the sunshine, you can hear me sayin’,
