  2. Know the District’s Policies and Procedures Read the Substitute Handbookthat is provided to each Substitute who is approved by the Board of Education. 2. Become familiar with the Substitute Teacher’s Information that is presented by AESOP , the District’s online Substitute Assignment Program. 3. Review this Substitute Teacher Orientation PowerPoint. The presentation and other helpful information can be found on the Human Resources Department Website.

  5. District Facts More than 49 languages are spoken by our students and their families. The District serves 6,700 students. There are seven elementary schools, three middle schools, and one high school.

  6. Basic Responsibilities of a Substitute Be punctual Do not leave students unsupervised Maintain a safe and orderly environment to promote learning Dress appropriately and professionally Maintain confidentiality of all information relative to students, staff, and parents

  7. AESOP—Online Substitute Placement Procedures for accessing the AESOP program are found in the Quick Start Users Guide. The District will assign an ID and PIN number. You may change your PIN number as often as you wish. Once you log on to AESOP, you may view the video tutorials that explain each procedure.

  8. Substitute Renewal Form Each year a form will be mailed to all substitutes that must be signed and returned to the Human Resources Department to confirm that they wish to be a substitute in the West Orange Schools for the upcoming school year. Substitutes must be approved by the Board of Education and must have all necessary qualifications and paperwork on file.
