Why we campaign to close Campsfield? • Could be considered as a ‘private prison’ • The notion of detaining people who have already gone through often unimaginable suffering to reach a ‘safe haven’ • Detainees have little/no access to proper legal representation • No legal limit on the length of detention

  5. Details Date: 27th October Time: All day (We will leave around 10.30/11am and return about 5pm) More information: Join Close Campsfield Campaign and visit to Oxford.   6. Talks/ Discussions • Week 5- A refugee Evening event: We plan to have a refugee come in and give an account of their experiences followed by a short explanation of the asylum process.

  7. Term 2 • Equal Access campaign • Involvement during OWW • Refugee/Action Week • Potential events/activities • Sponsored £5 a day • ‘Invisible man’ campaign • Lobbying MP through letter writing • Film screening/debate • Discussions on various issues

  8. Other ideas • Sleepout(as part of STAR’s Still Human Still Here Campaign-campaigning against destitution).

  9. What you can do this year • Give us your input- suggestions/ ideas for speakers, events etc • Join the campaigning committee (starting this term)! • Manpower &/ Brainpower to push forward Equal Access in Warwick Uni • Help plan and run activities during Action Week • Patronise our campaigns and raise the profile of Warwick STAR!! 
