  2. What is a Photogate? • A device that can be used to accurately measure periods of time. • When an object passes through a light beam, it starts/stops a timer. • It’s much more effective then trying to manually keep time.

  3. Before Each Trial • Hit “reset” on the Photogate • Make sure both the “A” and “B” lights are on.

  4. Today’s Jobs • A- Ramp (stack the books, measure the height) • B - Car (release and catch) • C - Photogate (reset, push buttons) • D - Manager (reader/recorder)

  5. When you finish collecting data.. • Head back to your seats. • Have your manager get calculators for the group. • Calculate your averages for each height. • Use the average to calculate your average speed. Remember! Speed=Distance/Time
