  15. Retina Project When? • Started November of 2002 Why? • To monitor the minimum server standards @ the UWO What? • Retina (from eEye) is a vulnerability scanning tool purchased by the UWO Why Retina? • The most Microsoft friendly of all • Less client blue screens • Good with Solaris/Linux/Mac

Retina Project (cont’d) UWO owns 2 licenses a Class C and a 16 ip • The Class C runs in a scheduler written in Java by John McFadden • Class C continually scans the campus • The 16 ip is run by our Operations staff and is used for On-Demand scans initiated by campus SysAdmins as needed. • On-Demand requests are submitted through a web form.
