Xilinx Ramp Support • Donations to make complete boards available • Upgrade the donation of parts from LX110T to LX155T, same speed grade as Microsoft • Engineering support in detailed transfer of memory interfaces, MIG, MPMC • Close cooperation with Microsoft, UC Berkeley and BEEcube to deliver a working system • Port of an core emulation to Bee3. Ramp August 2008 Retreat

Most recent donation Purchase of 7 complete systems, including memory power supply and communication board and basic firmware, given to RAMP • 3 for system Bringup at UC Berkeley • 3 required to be available remotely for any RAMP participant • 1 at Xilinx for further cooperation • Chuck Thacker’s planned use of remote access is really possible Ramp August 2008 Retreat

Remaining RAMP donations • Changed from 5 smaller donations for mainly boards to essentially 2 or 3 donations for complete systems. • First 7 systems need to be delivered and available • Approximately half of the budget has been used • Next: Ramp PIs determine the second half • Donation requires agreement with RAMP PIs and Xilinx • John Wawrzynek is the RAMP PI spokesperson • Kees Vissers is the Xilinx spokesperson • UC Berkeley responsible for: • hosting the website/wiki page withRAMP designware • Community building and user conferences. • Delivery based on Xilinx donations. Ramp August 2008 Retreat

Proposed schedule • Get 3 Bee3 systems available for remote usage, get some experience. • Discuss this retreat research interest for the next steps • Hold a conference call with all ramp PIs 3 months after real usage • Determine next step: 1 final donation, or 2 donations with more experience • Help build the RAMP community Ramp August 2008 Retreat
