  2. Introduction to Access Grid Technology • Multimedia group-to-group Interactive Collaboration Environment that relies on • IP Multicast Backbone • MBone Tools (VIC, RAT , SDR) • Access Grid nodes are "designed spaces” that provide a high-quality compelling user experience.

  3. Benefits • Quick and real life remote meeting experience • Help create a virtual organization at a personal level • Allows frequent meeting between research groups • Reducing transportation cost

  4. Applications • Distance Learning • Remote collaboration • Virtual Research Center • Remote Interview • Multinational Trade negotiation

  5. Problems in Thailand • Most of the networks still have no Multicast support • Policy and security concern • The lack of users request and applications • Low bandwidth for most part of the country • Lack of technical expertise in this area

Thai Access Grid Project • A collaboration project under Thaigrid Project • Goal • Built a collaborative environment in Thailand based on Access Grid Technology • Low-cost hardware solution • Low network speed, with and without multicast • Solution based on Free software • Focus on quick deployment of personel station and small side ag-node

Omega ProjectOpen Multi-Environment Grid Adapter • Goal • investigate the infrastructure that appropriate for developing country in Asia pacific region • Make access grid really accessible to low computer expertise users. • allows mobile user to be part of the access grid meeting using Mobile Personal Access Grid Station (MPAGS). • Technology • Peer-to-Peer Implementation • Automatics and easy to use • Based on XML , Web services Technology
