  5. The Leech • Doctors used leeches to cure patients but there is a possibility of harming the patient. • Chillingsworth is harming Dimmesdale

  6. The Leech (continued) • Leeches draw blood from their source for survival • Chillingsworth died without harming Dimmesdale

  7. The Isolated House • Is separated from Boston, just like Hester • Beautiful like Hester, but alone.

  8. The Forest • A place alone from the Puritans • Evil and sin allowed to roam free • The forest

  9. The Reflection • Hester’s A overtook the reflection • Hester was barely visible • Reflection hides the person behind the letter

  10. The Governor’s Mansion • Went against Weaned Affections • Governor was supposed to an example of Puritan beliefs, but didn’t follow it. • Shows Puritan hypocrisy

  11. The Difference in Rooms • Dimmesdale’s room was decorated with tapestries that parralled his sin. • Chillingworthe had scientific equipment. • Man of Science vs Man of Faith • Emphasized the two as a foil for one another
