  2. sequence- • a list of numbers in a specific order Example: 18, 24, 30, 36, 42 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 In this sequence, notice that 6 is added to each number. The next number is 36 + 6, or 42.

  3. Find the next number in this sequence. 21, 18 ½ , 16, 13 ½ , 11 -2 ½ -2 ½ -2 ½ -2 ½ In this sequence, 2 ½ is subtracted from each number. The next number is 13 ½ - 2 ½, or 11.

  4. Find the next number in this sequence. 2, 5 ½ , 9, 12 ½ , 16 +3 ½ +3 ½ +3 ½ +3 ½ In this sequence, 3 ½ is added to each number. The next number is 12 ½ + 3 ½, or 16.

  5. Find the next number in this sequence. 1 ½ , ¾ , 1 , 1 ¼ , 1 ¾ + ¼ + ¼ + ¼ + ¼ In this sequence, ¼ is added to each number. The next number is 1 ½ + ¼, or 1 ¾.

  6. Find the next number in this sequence. 25, 19 ½ , 14, 8 ½ , 3 -5 ½ -5 ½ -5 ½ -5 ½ In this sequence, 5 ½ is subtracted from each number. The next number is 8 ½ - 5 ½, or 3.
