  2. 4-13-12 • Define Segregation. What type of things were segregated? • What court case created separate but equal? • What court case got rid of separate but equal? • Why do you think Thurgood Marshall chose the case of Linda Brown to challenge separate but equal? • What does NAACP stand for?

Read Pages 906-910 • In your own words, what is segregation? • What concept did the court case Plessy vs. Ferguson bring to the US? • Describe what Jim Crow Laws are. • After WWI, many African-Americans moved north for factory jobs, what did they find in the north? • Who was Thurgood Marshall? What important things did he accomplish? • Describe why the NAACP thought that the case of Linda Brown was so unjust? • What was accomplished in the case Brown v. Board of Education? • Describe what happened during the integration of Central High School in Little Rock, AR? What problems occurred? Who tried to stop it? Would you have been bold enough to try and go there if you were not wanted? Why or Why not? Why do you think those 9 Af.-Am. students wanted to go there? • In your opinion, what were African American fighting for in this section? Does this effect you in any way today? • On the back of your paper, draw a picture/cartoon/poster describing one of these events in detail.
