The Trainees and Early Career Neonatologists (TECaN) section of the American Academy of Pediatrics aims to enhance education and foster community among its members in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine. We invite AAP members who are trainees or early-career neonatologists (within 7 years post-fellowship) to join us. Our council, comprising ten district representatives and dedicated subcommittee chairs, provides networking opportunities, career resources, and educational programming to advance skills and support career development. TECaN Mission To enhance and advance education in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine while fostering community among group members and encouraging active Section membership and participation
Membership Eligibility • Members of the AAP ($93 P-RT Member dues) • Who are trainees in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine • Or Early Career Neonatologists within 7 years of completing their fellowship training
TECaN Council - 1 • 10 District Representatives (2 year term) • Selected by Section on Perinatal Pediatrics District Representative • Chair (2 year term) • Also serves as representative to Perinatal Section Executive Committee • Immediate Past Chair (2 year term) • Liaison to Spring Workshop Planning Group, etc. • 2 Subcommittee Chairs • Membership/Leadership • Social Media/Communications
TECaN Council - 2 ONTPD Representative (1 year term) Represents fellows at meetings of the ONTPD and serves as liaison for TECaN Secretary-Treasurer (1 year term) Responsible for TECaN minutes, budget, and contact lists Liaison positions for SOMSRFT and SOYP
Program Representative Roles: Fellow (with interest in leadership) Conduit for information and networking between Maintain an active email list of the fellows Time Commitment: Minimal (will not interfere with clinical or research goals)
