The IAESB gathered in June 2012 at IFAC Headquarters in New York to engage stakeholders in a frank discussion focused on the Board's purpose and strategic direction. This session aimed to prepare for an upcoming public consultation, seeking critical input on how relevant the Board is and the impact it has on stakeholders. Through breakout groups, participants were encouraged to identify key environmental trends and determine priorities for future projects and activities, ensuring alignment with the Board's strategic focus and improving engagement with the public.

Breakout 1 – Environmental Scan What are the critical trends and issues that should inform the Strategy & Work Plan? What are the implications of these trends and factors for the Strategy & Work Plan?
Breakout 2 – Strategic Focus • Set up comments from Peter • Discussion on the draft Value Proposition – Does the Value Proposition provide sufficient clarity and guidance to enable dialogue on strategic focus? • Breakouts – • Given the discussion on the Environmental Scan and the Value Proposition, what should be the objectives of the next Strategy & Work Plan? • Given that the IAESB is a standard setting board, what proportion of our time/resources should be devoted to setting new standards versus engaging in outreach activities to promote the implementation of the IESs?
Breakout 2 – Projects & Activities What projects and activities should be in the IAESB’s proposed SWP? Definitions IAESB Projects are defined as projects that require a project proposal and approval by the Education Board IAESB Activities are defined as activities that do not need the Education Board’s approval, but are performed with the aim to improve the Board’s stature, or increase awareness IAESB pronouncements (e.g., Conference presentations, meetings with government agencies)
