Articulated Credit vs. Proficiency Credit • Not always requested • Not always deserved • Time between requesting and receiving credit can be 1-2+ years • Teacher guides the request process • College assessment aligned with high school content • Assessment results and award of credit occur within one month

  12. Award of Proficiency Credit College Registrar’s office receives results for all students. Credit and grade (for students earning C or better) is posted to student’s college transcript. Student sent college transcript or “no pass” letter.

  13. Results Since 2010 : 179 out of 229 students have received a total of 589 AACC credits for a tuition savings of over $58,311.

  14. Lessons Learned • Professional development is most effective atbeginning of year • Teacher experience is a plus • Testing location can make a difference • Culinary programs not conducive to proficiency assessment • Prepare for students requiring testingaccommodations
