  4. Lack of Client Focused Technology • Many of these systems have been successful in automating the administrative side of service provision and in generating data and information for National Drug and Treatment Monitoring • However, clients themselves have yet to see measurable, significant benefits from the use of new technologies as part of their individual recovery processes

  5. Recovery Spaces RecoverySpaces is a multi-media system that puts the client at the centre of their recovery from addiction RecoverySpaceshelps clients progress through their journey to recovery whether that journey begins in a prison, a treatment centre, rehab community based agency or at home

  6. RecoverySpaces - Client Centred • RecoverySpaces enables the client to use the medium that they are most comfortable with, whether, video, audio, text or graphics to document and evidence their recovery journey • In a private, secure online space, clients are given the opportunity to learn safely within the service and, if appropriate, at home

  7. Four Tier System • The RecoverySpaces system, can hold multiple service Centres each of which will have: • Administration Managers • Can create and manage senior recover practitioners • Senior Recovery Practitioners • Can create and manage recovery practitioners and clients • Practitioner • Can create and manage clients • Clients • Work in a RecoverySpace

  8. Clients Uses • RecoverySpaceshas six easy to use functions: • Diary/Journal to document their journey • Workbookfor assignments set by practitioners • Libraryof digital learning resources • Messaging for communicating with recovery practitioners • Worksheets for teaching and learning • Calendar for recovery related appointments • Progress reports to evidence recovery

  9. Administration • Administrators can create and administer clients and practitioners • Practitioners can administer their clients’ RecoverySpaces • Clients can see and access only their Recovery Space and can send messages only to their practitioners

  10. Benefits to Client • The system allows clients to take ownership of their recovery, creates closer more effective relationships with recovery practitioners and allows instant access to relevant and supportive information • It’s motivational, prevents relapse and can be used as an effective aftercare tool

  11. Security Features • RecoverySpacesis securely encrypted and can be run through its own server or installed at the service or treatment centre • A client is given a password which allows access to their own RecoverySpace. Their RecoverySpace can be switched between centers and accessed from home if required

  12. Aftercare Support • The client is unable to search the web via the system and uses it exclusively for self-reflection, record keeping, working and communicating with recovery practitioners • When initial treatment has finished it is able to offer aftercare support - the client continues to have a username and password and receives email alerts both during (if in the community) and after treatment

  13. Benefits to Service Centre • RecoverySpacesfacilitates the effective management of a personalised journey • It helps to create intervention strategies appropriate to the diversity of an individual client’s needs and offers counsellors the opportunity to gain a greater understanding of the clients they are working with • Continuity of care can be more accurately planned and the achievement of objectives can be visually measured in conjunction with required data and key performance indicators
