  1. Activator Week 6 (Day 1) List words from Diondra’s chapter that enhance characterization. I hate always being the tallest girl in school. Everybody expects me to play basketball, so they pick me for their team, throw me the ball, and wait for me to shoot. Big mistake. I fumble it every time. Then they have the nerve to get mad at me, like I did it on purpose. page 26 Bronx Masquerade

  2. Cite textual evidence to support analysis, either explicit or inferred. ExplicitInferred

  3. Which is the best example of citing textual evidence? • This girl is really tall and doesn’t like it. • Diondra is a tall girl who doesn’t like basketball. • In the book Bronx Masquerade, the character Diondra “hates always being the tallest girl in school.”

  4. I know Diondra doesn’t like basketball because she says it’s a mistake to throw her the ball. • People get mad at Diondre for not being good at basketball. • This character shows her frustration on page 26 when she says other players have “the nerve to get mad at me, like I did it on purpose.” This shows that she doesn’t feel like it’s her fault that she can’t play basketball since she is not trying to fumble the shot.

  7. Inferences (Drawing Conclusions) • Look at the examples you have listed on your SARA T. chart and determine what conclusions you can draw about your character. • On the bottom of your paper, cite textual evidence to support your character analysis. I will put the model back on the board when everyone is ready.

Justify your answer with evidence from the text. • My character is compassionate. • My character is determined to succeed. • My character is brave. • My character is creative. • My character is stressed/frustrated/anxious.
