About the Presenter Melissa is Consultant with Deloitte Consulting LLP, working in the Education Design and Accreditation Branch at Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, Georgia. She has a Master of Science in Instructional Design and Technology and specializes in e-learning. Melissa has been working on the CDC Learning Connection project prior to the website’s development in 2010 and is enthusiastic about its progress and impact on the public health community.

History of CDC LC • Launched November 2010 offering a list of products from CDC and non-CDC partners that are • Available at no cost • Easily accessible • Designed for the *public health community • Began offering spotlights on relevant public health topics in January 2011 • Launched CDC TRAIN, a portal into the national public health learning management system by PHF in August, 2011 • Revamped for 2012 with a variety of new features and new look * Public health community — all professionals and practitioners who work in public health; this includes but is not limited to physicians, nurses, epidemiologist, educators, sanitarians, pharmacists, and laboratorians.

Utilizing CDC LC as an Educator • Look for at spotlights for the basis of training on potential topics • Use the resource list to identify other websites that may be relevant for your learners needs • Supply your learners with quality e-learning by selecting courses off of Featured E-learning • Access CDC TRAIN to • Search for courses on specific topics, skillsets, and for specific occupations • Obtain data on your courses listed through national TRAIN system

Utilizing CDC LC as a Developer • Identify existing training on similar topics prior to development • Use Quality E-learning section for guidance • View products on the Featured list for examples • Submit products to CDC LC for featured e-learning consideration • Suggest an informational site or product for the Resource List • Join a CoP through CDC TRAIN or phConnects • Access CDC TRAIN to • List and maximize the visibility of your organization’s course • Get feedback on your organization’s courses through rating system
