  1. Evaluation By imogendubuis-jenkins

  2. Initial ideas • Previous group difficulty meant working alone as of January. • New project to be based on fashion, style and beauty. • To target aspirers with a keen interest in the topics above. • Original idea of a runway show.

  3. research • I watched many short films based on fashion, beauty and style. • These were films made by designers such as Prada, Lady Dior, Chanel and more. • I then concluded that my target audience would be best suited to young, female aspirers, aging between 18 to 25, in the socio-economic class B and C1.

  4. Proposal • I then proposed a film where one young, female adult is getting ready to go out. • My ideas advanced since this and before filming, I changed my mind and decided that four cast members would be more appropriate for variety. • This meant scheduling availability between cast members and myself filming.

  5. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products? • My film is an instillation film. It does not necessarily have a clear message because it is meant to set a mood. • I have challenged the convention by having chronological events.

  6. How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts? • I wrote my review from a males prespective – acting as Barry Smith for ‘The Sound’ magazine which was the title of my final media product of my AS year. • My poster and review are linked as I gave it a certificate 12A, which is listed in the review and shown on the poster. • The rating is also shown on both. • I have used images from my short film in both ancillary texts. • The font faces between my main product are also represented in my poster.

  7. How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts? • My questions were: • Are you male or female? • What is your age? • How well does the film make use of the titles? • Is the sound in sync with the images and appropriate to the film overall? • To what extent are the shots well chosen and framed correctly? • How clear is the narrative? • To what extent is the mise-en-scene (props and settings) appropriate? • Are the characters used in the film appropriate/believable? • Have a range of editing techniques been used appropriately? • Overall, how much did you enjoy this film and why?

  8. What have you learned from your audience feedback? • Males and females both appreciated the film. • My average scores for all questions were 9 out of 10. • Out of six responses, I received one overall critisism. • The comments were things such as: “The props are appropriate to the title, but not to the quotes, as it says style one must be born to posses it then how can everything be beautiful, if style is the key, then surely material gains must be used, yet the quotes suggest that a natural women is beautiful, not a stylish women. • And: “It’s contradicting and has very little to do with the title, it also has no meaning, there's no clear point, repetition is boring and provoking. • From this I have learned that I should have done more research into the quotes and the overall meaning.

  9. HOW DID YOU USE MEDIA TECHNOLOGIES IN THE CONSTRUCTION AND RESEARCH, PLANNING AND EVALUATION STAGES? • Research • I used the internet to research short films. • I looked on blogs and advice websites. • Pre-production • I used www.wordpress.com to blog my research and planning. • Production • I used Adobe Premier to edit my film and Photoshop for my review and poster.

  10. HOW DID YOU USE MEDIA TECHNOLOGIES IN THE CONSTRUCTION AND RESEARCH, PLANNING AND EVALUATION STAGES? • Post-production • I used www.surveymonkey.co.uk to collect results. I uploaded my film to YouTube and shared it via social networking sites.

  11. Thank you for watching.
