  2. What is Cerebral Palsy? • Cerebral Palsy is a term used to describe a group of chronic conditions affecting body movements and muscle coordination.

  3. Characteristics • Loss of muscle control • Clumsy walking • Lack of balance • Shaking of the body • Unclear speech • Jerky movements

  5. Causes of Cerebral Palsy: • Most cases of Cerebral Palsy is diagnosed during the birth of a child. • Cerebral Palsy may also go in affect during premature births. • Cerebral palsy is rarely an inherited trait.

  6. How Can Cerebral Palsy be Prevented? • Before becoming pregnant, a woman should be vaccinated against any disease that could harm her unborn baby.

  7. An expectant mother should only take drugs prescribed by her physician.

  8. After birth, a baby can be protected from brain damage by careful handling, proper care, and vaccination against childhood diseases.

  9. Is there a Treatment? • There is no specific cure for Cerebral Palsy. Treatment that is given to patient is to prevent the disease from worsening. • Treatment depends on the patients disabilities to different activities. • Each patient needs individual care.
