Survival Rates and Prognostic Factors in Patients with Unexplained Sudden Deaths Over 50 Years

This study examines the aggregate survival rates of patients in France over a 50-year period, revealing a stable mortality rate between 6.7% and 8.4%. Data were collected from 140,000 patients included based on criteria for "unexplained sudden death without obvious extra-cardiac cause" between May 2011 and May 2013. The analysis showed significant prognostic factors, including coronary angiography results. This research highlights the ongoing need for better understanding and new therapeutic approaches in managing unexplained sudden death cases.

  2. - 140.000 patients sur 50 ans - "The aggregate survival rate, recorded across various populations, is between 6.7% and 8.4%" - mortalité stable depuis 30 ans

  5. Matériel & Méthode

  6. Population : → 762 km², 6.6 millions d'habitants

  7. Inclusion : - toutes « mort inattendue sans cause extra-cardiaque évidente » - dans la région d'intérêt - âge > 18 ans - du 15/05/2011 au 15/05/2013 • Exclusion : - état terminal - non-critère d'inclusion

  8. Recueil des données : - Sensibilité : 2 sources (fichier BSPP – SAMU et fichier Urgences) et contrôle sur certaines USI. - Spécificité : chaque dossier inclus était revu.

  9. Analyse statistique : - données démographiques, conditions, ttt, cause de la mort… etc → analyse si < 15 % données manquantes → Chi², test t de Student, analyse univariée puis multivariée et régression logistique
