Wednesday 5th of March: “TheBurial of theSardine” • OnWednesdaythe 5th willofficiallyendthe Carnaval withthetradional “ Entierro de la Sardina” (is a Spanishceremonycelebratingtheend of carnival and otherfestivities. TheBurialsgenerallyconsist of a carnivalparadethat parodies a funeral procession and culminateswiththeburning of a symbolic figure, usuallytherepresentation of a sardine., transformed and with new vigour • TheBurial of theSardineduringcarnivaliscelebratedonAshWednesday and is a symbolicalburial of thepasttoallowsocietyto be reborn, transformed and with new vigour. Itwillnow come theLent.
