  3. General information There are psychoactive and addictive drugs. Every drug has different effect. Drugs can cause different illnesses or even death. Some drugs are legal and some are illegal.

  4. Stimulants Common stimulants: caffeineand nicotine Strong stimulants: Amphetamines (amphetamine, methamphetamine) and cocaine. Effects : increased confidence, sense of energy, insomnia, decreased appetite. Withdrawal symptoms of strong stimulants: depression, disorientation, suicidal thoughts, irritability. Adverse/Overdose reactions: elevated blood pressure, vivid hallucinations, possible death.

  5. Depressants Alcohol, barbiturates: Effect: anxiety reduction, dramatic mood swings, slurred speech, slowed mental and physical functioning. Withdrawal symptoms: weakness, headaches, depression, seizure. Adverse/Overdose reactions: decreased response to pain, coma, possible death Rohypnol Effect: muscle relaxation, sleep. Withdrawal symptoms: seizure. Adverse/Overdose reactions: seizures, coma.

  6. Narcotics • Heroin and morphine. • Effects: anxiety and pain reduction, slowed speech, difficulty in concentration, euphoria. • Withdrawal symptoms: anxiety, sneezing, lower back pain, runny nose, yawning. • Adverse/Overdose reactions: low blood pressure, rapid heart rate, convulsions, coma, possible death.

  7. Hallucinogens • Cannabis, MDMA(Ecstasy) and LSD. • Effects of cannabis: euphoria, relaxation • Withdrawal symptoms: hyperactivity, insomnia. • Adverse/Overdose reactions : panic, paranoia • Effects of ecstasy: empathy, energy. • Withdrawal symptoms: depression, sleeplessness. • Adverse/Overdose reactions: memory difficulties, • Effects of LSD: euphoria, paranoia, sensitivity to faces and gestures. • Adverse/Overdose reactions: increased pulse, blood pressure, insomnia, dangerous behavior.

  8. Conclusion There is plenty of different drugs. Some of them are weaker, some are stronger but they have special effects. Even if people feels better while being on strong drugs, the consequences of abuse can be fatal and sometimes can lead to death.
