Banner Effort Reporting Best Practices….cont’d • Get “top down” buy-in • All departments represented in development process • Work with IT department • Employee access (on campus or off campus) • Correct HR tables and Website linked to Effort Systems – upgrades • Approval processes – who all needs to approve? • EPA/SPA and Graduate Student approvals may be different • Only 1 certification required

Banner Effort Reporting Best Practices….cont’d • Training, training, training • Certifiers and approvers • Have “hands on” training • Have video/web based training available • “How to certify” instructions • individual, chair/dean, graduate student supervisor • Keep a separate Excel spreadsheet as to who needs to sign because banner does not have a report to indicate who still needs to certify
