  1. Promoting Positive Behaviour (PPB) Turnbull High School

  2. What is PPB all about? • Traditional discipline activities aim to encourage positive behaviour and performance through the punishment of unacceptable activities. • However, using punishments alone can mean that pupils may under perform. • This can be the case because although punishments mean that pupils have a reason not to misbehave, they DO NOT have an incentive to perform beyond basic standards which prevent punishment.

  3. What is PPB all about? • PPB activities aim to provide incentives to pupils which will encourage them to perform to the best of their abilities and not only in a way which prevents punishment. • Therefore PPB activities are intended to complement (NOT replace) punishments in order to create a comprehensive discipline system which: • discourages bad behaviour (through punishment) • encourages good behaviour (through PPB)

  4. PPB in Our School • In Turnbull we have established the following PPB programmes over the past few years. • AIMING HIGH (S1 & S2) • GO4IT (S3 & S4) • These programmes now give us an opportunity to actively monitor and motivate our students as follows.
