  3. ITU-T Q14/15 – Optical Control Plane Management Framework Discovery Architecture G.7718 G.disc_arch Auto- discovery Initialization & Recovery Signaling Routing DCN/SCN G.7716 G.7714 Protocol Neutral Requirements (Detailed) G.7713 G.7715 G.7712 G.7715.1 G.7713.1 Protocol Specifications G.7714.1 G.7713.2 G.7713.3 ITU-T SG 15, Question 14 ASON Control & Management Recommendations

  4. ITU-T Q14/15 - Optical Control PlaneRouting • Q.14/15 thanks IETF CCAMP WG (ASON Routing Requirements Design Team) for their efforts to understand and capture ASON Routing Requirements. • Q.14/15 supports extending this to the application of routing protocols to support the ASON requirements. • Q.14/15 is analyzing existing routing protocols such as OSPF, IS-IS and PNNI for their use in ASON • Work with the associated bodies to understand the possible implications on the routing protocols. • Created a routing template to support this work • Template contains extracts of ASON documents containing requirements on routing protocols.

  5. ITU-T Q14/15 - Optical Control PlaneRouting/Signaling • Q.14/15 suggests that a cross-body design team may be created to investigate use of IETF routing protocols for ASON. • Similar to the team created to capture ASON Routing Requirements • Special attention may need to be focused on the following: • Identification of SNPP endpoints in link advertisement • Advertisement of endpoint reachability • Advertisement of available connections at a particular signal type • Distinguishing information received from another level in a routing hierarchy • Q.14/15 would also like to note for IETF the recent completion of the following ITU-T work: • Approval of ITU-T Recommendation G.7715.1 on Link State Routing Protocol Requirements for ASON • Consent of an amendment to ITU-T Recommendation G.7713 on Distributed Call/Connection Management

  6. Next Q.14/15 meeting • An interregnum meeting of Q.14/15 has been planned for 1 – 5 November 2004, located in Berlin, Germany. • Rapporteur for Q.14/15 invites the participation of the CCAMP WG in related discussions. • Details of the agenda will be provided prior to the meeting. • Interested in further information and/or attending the interregnum meeting contact the Rapporteur for Q.14/15 (H. Kam Lam, hklam@lucent.com) by 24 September 2004. • Any contributions directed to the meeting must be submitted by 25 October 2004.
