  4. President – Michael Friedman • BME Ph.D. Candidate • Research: Kohn lab – Diet and exercise effects on bone • Oversees entire organization • Communicates with the BME department • Organizes meetings and BMES events

  5. Undergrad VP – Jon Nicholas • 3rd year BME • Experience • Research: Center for Ergonomics • Habitat for Humanity • Soccer referee • Organizes lab tours and sales of lab notebooks • Plans and coordinates BMES events

  6. Treasurer – LanxinLiu • 2nd year BME (planning to graduate next year) • Research: Human Biomechanics and Control Laboratory (HBCL) • Makes sure that the society doesn’t go broke, handles the money that belongs to the society

  7. Secretary – Joshua Berus • 2nd year BME • Research: PejRohani’s Lab (Center for the Study of Complex Systems & Dept. of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology) • Reserves rooms • Keeps track of membership database • Attends UMEC meetings

  8. Webmaster – Patrick Hooper • Computer Science, B.S.E. (2012) • Research: Dr. ChristianeWobus – murinenoroviruspyrosequencing 16S rRNA sequence analysis • Personal Info: I’m super easy-going, and also a little lazy. I love music, sports, and food! Feel free to approach me with questions you have about anything, or just to chat. • Maintains BMES website and social media pages

Logistics/Publicity – Ryan Randall • 3rd year BME • Experience • Research: Dr. King Yang – Advanced Human Modeling Lab making biological models for FEA and crash test analysis • Alternative Spring Break Lead Team • Increase involvement of BMES within the BME department and vice versa • Responsible for sending out the BMES newsletter

Vacant Officer Positions • Fill out application form and give to an officer • Graduate VP • Grad student • Recruit grad students and encourage participation • Activities chair • Plan monthly social events • Run IM sports teams • Community service chair • Organize and run community service events

How to Become a Member • Register on BMES website • Go to ‘Members -> Join the U-M BMES’ tab from BMES homepage • http://www.bme.umich.edu/societies/bmes/join • Pay membership dues - $10 • Cash or check to University of Michigan Biomedical Engineering Society • Give dues to any officer at any event
