  1. Welcome! Mrs. Smith Back to School Night August 23, 2011

  2. Goals All students will: • progress toward becoming independent, life-long learners. • increase their analytical thinking and logical reasoning. • acquire the knowledge and skills of geometry.

  3. be able to analyze new situations and apply the appropriate geometric reasoning to solve them. • maintain and enhance their algebraic skills • understand the process which underlies the development of mathematics • develop an appreciation of the innate beauty of mathematics.

  4. What does my student need for class? • Binder for keeping notes, quizzes, and homework • Pencils and grading pens • Notebook paper and graph paper • Compass, protractor and ruler (for use at home) • Scientific calculator

  5. How can I help my student? Make sure: • they have the correct supplies • they are completing every assignment on time • they do not miss class if at all possible • their notebook is organized • come in before or after school whenever they need help

  6. Assessment • Chapter and final exams 50% • Quizzes 30% • Class work and homework 20%
