Small cell carcinoma • Round, oval and spindle-shaped small tumor cells with scant cytoplasm • Ill-defined cell borders • Finely granular nuclear chromatin • Absent or inconspicuous nucleoli • Prominent nuclear molding • Extensive necrosis • High mitotic count
