  1. Experimental Setup at Cave C new: proton tracking around the target with Si-strip detectors new: proton tracking behind magnet with drift chambers Exclusive measurement of all interesting reaction channels - knockout plus decay of residual system - inelastic excitation plus neutron/proton decay (nuclear, electromagnetic) - quasi-free scattering: (p,2p) EURONS PCC-Meeting, Mainz (Germany), 6.-7. April 2006

  2. Progress from RHIB Thomas Aumann (GSI) EURONS PCC meeting, Mainz 6th April 2006 • High-resolution tracking diamond detectors (TUM) • good timing and position resolution, radiation hard • prototype tests performed • High-resolution tracking silicon detectors (GSI) • zero-degree detector for tracking of fragments and protons (in one detector) plus proton-recoil detector for quasi-free scattering experiments • prototype tests performed • Large-area detectors for heavy ions and light charged particles (Santiago de Compostela) • simulations performed, characteristic parameters defined RHIB Tasks EURONS PCC-Meeting, Mainz (Germany), 6.-7. April 2006

  3. Progress from RHIB • High-resolution velocity measurements (Santiago de Compostela) • first RPC prototypes available • beam time request for tests with high-energy HI submitted • Pilot experiments and simulations (Madrid, GSI, Chalmers, Aarhus, Daresbury) • quasi-free scattering (p,2p), p(pn) etc in inverse kinematics • simulations including reaction theory (Surrey) • first full-scale experiment for quasi-free scattering in preparation • High-transmission beam line (Giessen) • ion-optical calculations and optimization of FRS-CaveC(RHIB) beam lins • Low-mass tracking detectors (FZR) (prototype ready) EURONS PCC-Meeting, Mainz (Germany), 6.-7. April 2006

  4. Diamond detectors Prototype detectors Test with 1 GeV/u 27Al beam - time resolution s~60 psec (independent from signal amplitude) - efficiency 98.5% (segmentation) HADES start detector 1x1 cm2, 50mm substrate, 4x4 segmentation low-noise 2 GHz preamps EURONS PCC-Meeting, Mainz (Germany), 6.-7. April 2006

  5. Diamond detectors Prototype detectors Tests at the Munich Tandem with 117 MeV 16O beam (energy loss equ. 1 GeV/u Kr) - Charge-collection spread 18% (inhomogeneity of polychrytaline material) - Charge-collection depth 15 mm - Variation of thickness ±1 mm 1x1 cm2, 100mm substrate, 4x4 segmentation EURONS PCC-Meeting, Mainz (Germany), 6.-7. April 2006

  6. Diamond detectors Prototype detectors Tests at the Munich Tandem with 117 MeV 16O beam (energy loss equ. 1 GeV/u Kr) Radiation Hardness max dose 101116O ions/mm2 → tracking detectors for high-rate invironment (e.g., mid focus Super-FRS) 1x1 cm2, 100mm substrate, 4x4 segmentation EURONS PCC-Meeting, Mainz (Germany), 6.-7.
