How Important is it for Humankind to Obey the Laws of his or her Creator? • Matthew 5:19 Whoever then goes against the smallest of these laws, teaching men to do the same, will be named least in the kingdom of heaven; but he who keeps the laws, teaching others to keep them, will be named great in the kingdom of heaven. • Matthew 13:41 The Son of Man will commission His angels, and they will gather out of His Kingdom all who violate His laws • John 14:15 If you have love for me, you will keep my laws.

John 14:21 He who has my laws and keeps them, he it is who has love for me: and he who has love for me will be loved by my Father, and I will have love for him and will let myself be seen clearly by him.(BBE) • John 15:10 If you keep my laws, you will be ever in my love, even as I have kept my Father's laws, and am ever in his love.(BBE) • Acts 5:32 And we are witnesses of these things, and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who keep his laws.(BBE) • Hebrews 8:10 "For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel. After those days," says the Lord; "I will put my laws into their mind, I will also write them on their heart. I will be their God, and they will be my people.

And the Spirit which he gave us is our witness that he is in us. (BBE) • 2 John 1:6 And love is the keeping of his laws. This is the law which was given to you from the first, so that you might keep it.(BBE)

The Laws of Nature vs. Civil Law • When, in the course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

  6. Law of Nature by Sir William Blackstone • "Man, considered as a creature, must necessarily be subject to the laws of his Creator, for he is entirely a dependent being.... And, consequently, as man depends absolutely upon his Maker for everything, it is necessary that he should in all points conform to his Maker's will... this will of his Maker is called the law of nature." ² • Laws of Nature = Make’s Will

  7. What does “dependent” mean • DEPENDENT, adjective • 1. Hanging down; as a dependent leaf. • The furs in the tails were dependent • 2. Subject to the power of; at the disposal of; not able to exist or sustain itself without the will or power of. Thus, we are dependent on God and his providence; and effect may be dependent on some unknown cause. • 3. Relying on for support or favor; unable to subsist or to perform any thing, without the aid of. • Children are dependent on their parents for food and clothing. The pupil is dependent on his preceptor for instruction. • DEPENDENT, noun One who is at the disposal of another; one who is sustained by another, or who relies on another for support or favor; a retainer; as, the prince was followed by a numerous train of dependents.

Attributes to Self Rule When God created man, God endowed him with free will to conduct himself in all parts of life, He laid down certain immutable laws of human nature, whereby that free will is in some degree regulated and restrained, and gave him also the faculty of reason to discover the purport of those laws. These are the eternal, immutable laws of good and evil, to which the creator himself in all his dispensations conforms Sir William Blackstone

  9. The Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God "These laws laid down by God are the eternal immutable laws of good and evil.... This law of nature dictated by God himself, is of course superior in obligation to any other. It is binding over all the globe, in all countries, and at all times: no human laws are of any validity if contrary to this...." ³ Sir William Blackstone

  10. Natural Law = Constitutional Lawis the Supreme Law of the Land • "All laws, rules and practices which are repugnant to the Constitution are null and void”-- Marbury v. Madison, 5th US (2 Cranch) 137, 180 • "The common law is the real law, the Supreme Law of the land, the code, rules, regulations, policy and statutes are “not the law”, -- Self v. Rhay, 61 Wn (2d) 261

  11. Republican Form of Government Section 4. The United States shall guarantee to every state in this union a republican form of government, and shall protect each of them against invasion SEE SLIDE SHOW ENTITLED “REPUBLICAN FORM OF GOVERNMENT”

A Republican Form of Government is LIMITED • Fundamental Principle Underlying a Republican Form of Government “Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed”The Declaration of Independence • The heart of American self government which embodies a republican form of government, is the notion that government is naturally ‘limited’ by the consent of the governed.

What is a Republican Character? “If our government be found to depart from the republican character, its advocates must abandon it as no longer defensible.”James Madison, Federalist Papers No. 39 If government departs from the republican character; 1) We are instructed to ABANDON it 2) is no longer DEFENSIBLE

  15. Characteristics of a Republican Form of Government • 1. Derives all its powers directly or indirectly from the great body of the people • “We may define a republic to be a government which derives all its powers directly or indirectly from the great body of the people, and is administered by persons holding their offices during pleasure, for a limited period, or during good behavior.” James Madison, Federalists Papers No. 39

Good Behavior in its Government Sir William Blackstone, Commentaries “In general, all mankind will agree that government should be reposed in such persons in whom these qualities are most likely to be found the perfection of which is among the attributes of Him who is emphatically styled the Supreme Being; the three great requisites, I mean, of wisdom, of goodness, and of power: wisdom, to discern the real interest of the community; goodness, to endeavor always to pursue that real interest; and strength, or power, to carry this knowledge and intention into action. These are the natural foundations of sovereignty, and these are the requisites that ought to be found in every well-constituted frame of government.”

Who Ordains and Establishes this Constitution? “We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ORDAIN and ESTABLISH this Constitution for the United States of America Preamble U.S. Constitution emphasis added • The heart of the limited government envisioned by our founding fathers was founded upon the idea of the sovereign powers of ‘We the People’

We the People  We the People are specially positioned and protected in a republican form of government. “A Declaration of Rights made by the good people of the United States in the exercise of our SOVEREIGN POWERS, which rights do pertain to us and our posterity, as the basis and foundation of government” Unlike man-made fictitious entities such as governments, corporations, banks and other human organizations, We the People are the living souls of a nation. According to scripture insight, living souls are created in the image and likeness of God. (Genesis 1:27)

  19. We the People It is the inherent and irreplaceable responsibility of ‘We the People’ to vigilantly watch and restrict government’s natural propensity to ignore the consent and will of the people.
