The Apostles’ Doctrine • “Apostle” an authorized messenger acting on behalf of the sender • Special witnesses Acts 1:1-11 • Special qualifications Acts 1:15-26 • The apostles’ doctrine came from God Jn 16:13 • The apostles’ authority from God Jn 13:20 • Authority expressed in the wordJn 12:47-50, 20:19-23, Matt. 8:5-13 • All teaching must conform to God’s revelation 1 Peter 4:11

The Apostles’ Doctrine • Why does God use men? • To magnify God’s power 2 Cor. 4:7; 1 Cor. 1:21 • To demonstrate righteousness by faith Rm 10:6 • Right. by faith = word in (heart + mouth) v.8 Word -> Faith v.17 • To strengthen our own faith “confess” v.9-10 • To strengthen others 1 Tim. 4:12-16, Hb 10:25 • Examples are living visual aids • We are to adorn the word of God Titus 2:9-10
