Exploring the Interplay Between Accessibility and Permeability in Urban Design
This study by Mahsa Salimi Khatibi, Peter Loffler, and Marina Petit examines the relationship between accessibility and permeability in urban environments. Accessibility, both physical and visual, directly influences permeability, affecting how spaces are perceived and interacted with at different times of the day. The work highlights the impact of varying lifestyles and city designs on sensory experiences such as smell and sound, as well as how these elements shape privacy definitions and territorial boundaries. The importance of thoughtful urban planning is emphasized to enhance community life.
