Dutch Ole Kirk Christiansen • Ole Kirk Christiansen was the founder of Legos. • He was born in 1891 in Filskov, Denmark. • He was 1st a woodworker and a carpenter. • Being a woodworker he would make little wooden blocks. • He started his own business. • His factory burnt down but he rebuilt it. • After rebuilding the factory, his business was dedicated to toys. • In 1958 he died. • Ole’s son took over the company • Ole’s grandson than became the CEO of the company. • Someone else took over but Legos lived on.

LEGOS Clip art • Millions of children all over the world play with LEGOS. • LEGO actually means “I put together”. • LEGOS were 1st wooden but turned into plastic. • LEGOS became so popular they built a lego based amusement park. • Lego obtained a trademark which was renamed Lego Bricks. • The 1st lego sets were sold in the U.S. in 1961 • Duplo are Legos but bigger and safer for toddlers. • Lego became the Lego learning Institute, the Lego Educational Division, and the Lego Serious Play. • Legos are sold in 130 different countries. • Lego sales are totaling over 1.5 billion dollars.
