5. Matthew 1:6-11 David was the father of Solomon, whose mother had been Uriah's wife,  Solomon the father of Rehoboam,   Rehoboam the father of Abijah,   Abijah the father of Asa,   Asa the father of Jehoshaphat,   Jehoshaphat the father of Jehoram,   Jehoram the father of Uzziah,

9. David paid a great price • 2 Samuel 14 - 20 • David’s first son was Amnon and his mother was Ahinoam. • David’s second son was Kileab and his mother was Abigail. • David’s third son was Absalom and his mother was Maacah.

10. 2 Samuel 15:12 While Absalom was offering sacrifices, he also sent for Ahithophel the Gilonite, David's counselor, to come from Giloh, his hometown. And so the conspiracy gained strength, and Absalom's following kept on increasing.

11. 2 Samuel 15:31 Now David had been told, "Ahithophel is among the conspirators with Absalom." So David prayed, "O LORD, turn Ahithophel's counsel into foolishness."

12. 2 Samuel 16:20-23 Absalom said to Ahithophel, "Give us your advice. What should we do?"

13. 2 Samuel 16:20-23 Ahithophel answered, "Lie with your father's concubines whom he left to take care of the palace. Then all Israel will hear that you have made yourself a stench in your father's nostrils, and the hands of everyone with you will be strengthened."

14. 2 Samuel 16:20-23 So they pitched a tent for Absalom on the roof, and he lay with his father's concubines in the sight of all Israel.

15. 2 Samuel 16:20-23 Now in those days the advice Ahithophel gave was like that of one who inquires of God. That was how both David and Absalom regarded all of Ahithophel's advice.

17. 2 Samuel 17:14; 23 When Ahithophel saw that his advice had not been followed, he saddled his donkey and set out for his house in his hometown. He put his house in order and then hanged himself. So he died and was buried in his father's tomb.

The woman was very beautiful, and David sent someone to find out about her. The man said, "Isn't this Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam and the wife of Uriah the Hittite?"

20. Bottom Line: Anger and bitterness cankill – but Jesus came to take away the sins of His people.

25. How do you get rid of it? • Keep shortlists Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.­ 1 Corinthians 13:4-5

26. How do you get rid of it? • Watch out for bitterness Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. - Hebrews 12:1

27. How do you get rid of it? • Watch out for bitterness See to it that no one misses the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many. - Hebrews 12:15
