  2. Summary Purpose • More than five pages - include a summary • Include if requested by funder • Present a clear one page (or limited) abstract • Include at the beginning • Write it last

  3. Summary Content • Identify the applicant • Include qualifications to carry out project • Clearly state the purpose (need)of the grant • Describe anticipated results • Request specific funding amount • Mention total project cost

  7. Cover Letter • One page on agency letterhead • Introduce your agency • Indicate support of the board • Tell the funder the amount of the request and the purpose • Include proposal highlights • Thank funder and provide follow-up information

  8. Appendices • The organization’s IRS determination letter • 501(c)3 • List of board members and their affiliations • Agency’s budget for current fiscal year • Agency brochure • Newsletter • Annual report • Agency’s long range plan • Other funding sources • Letters of support

  9. Proposal Packaging • Clean-looking • Neatly packaged • Well-organized • Page numbered • Table of contents • Appropriate number of copies • Staples, clips, folders, tabs, notebooks, etc.
