  3. When and Where • Sometime in the A.D. 60’s • Before martyrdom of Paul (@ A.D. 68) • Before the fall of Jerusalem (A.D. 70) • Written most likely in Rome

  4. Purpose • To show how gospel begins to work itself out in the church • To show the nature of the kingdom of God

  5. Theme • Kingdom of God will advance to every part of the earth • Luke tells the story of the church’s beginning and expansion, covering thirty-two years or so from Jesus’ ascension to Paul’s imprisonment

  6. Theme Verse • Acts 1:8 • “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
