  2. Open Powerpoint File • Under Design, click on Page Setup • Enter in size of poster in inches • We are limited on printer size • Also, some of the symposiums this poster might be used at have size limits

  3. Under View, check Gridlines • This will help you line up title, pictures, and textboxes on your poster.

  4. On a separate slide (or even separate powerpoint file), type in your text • In the following example I will use an Introduction: Introduction Aquaculture , the farming of aquatic animals and plants, currently provides a third of the world’s seafood because natural fisheries are being fully utilized. In the U.S. about 85% of all seafood is imported, which indicates a need for more domestic growth. Less than 20 years ago, clam aquaculture was a fledgling industry in the U.S. Through advances in animal health, genetic stock, and water quality, the industry has grown substantially. In Florida, shellfish aquaculture is a $10-20 million annual industry, however it is based on a single clam species, Mercenaria (Fig. 1). Through exploring other bivalves as viable stock, it may increase the industry’s economic growth and stability. The Sunray Venus clam (Macrocallistanimbosa, Fig. 2) shows potential as a candidate culture organism. Therefore, its ability to withstand natural salinity variation should be examined.

  5. Next, insert a textbox on your poster • Font size for text will depend on your mentor teams’ decision, purpose of text, amount of text, etc. • However, somewhere around 24 is good

  6. Copy and paste your text into the textbox

  7. To view your work, go to View and click on zoom, zoom 50%
